Osteopathy At Home
62How many of us suffer from back pain in some shape or form in our lives?
Barely a conversation about work ends without someone sharing some kind of ache or pain with me. The truth is we all deal with pain differently. Its severity is virtually impossible to measure. We rely on the following:
Clinical and technological forms of diagnosis to tell us what is happening to the anatomical structures in the affected area
OR
The levels of any chemical markers
OR
Mechanical results of the above
NOT
I hasten to add, what is necessarily causing the PAIN
Consultation At Home:
Taking your Case History:-
Often if the pain is debilitating it can be difficult to travel to the clinic.
It is less time consuming and convenient as no travel time has to be accounted for and no travel arrangements have to be made.
Gathering information about Medications or Methods of dealing with the pain at Home can be more efficiently obtained and can be more accurately answered or described.
Scans or letters you may have otherwise forgotten or not thought to bring with you to clinic are readily available.
Often there is more time to discuss the result of scans or to explain medical terminology as there is no client waiting room to contend with.
Treatment and Prescriptions:-
Many of the above can aid with the effectiveness of treatment received and any advice thereafter, particularly with regards to-
- day-to-day activity (eg getting in or out of home or rooms etc...)
- bed mattress suitability
- footwear suitablity and assistance with choosing/changing if and where apppropriate
- posture at home with regards to ergonomic layout of computer or TV stations, housework, stairs, etc
All in all treatment can be more tailor-made to the individual which is a part of what Osteopathic treatment is all about. It can be more specific to your needs. In the long-term you, the client, make this work in your favour which is the goal of both the practitioner and the patient.
